My love for 1920s fashion started after my husband bought me the first three seasons of Downton Abbey for my last birthday. He and I spent the next two months catching up before the fourth season started in January. It is my love for Downton Abbey that has spurred on my love for the 20’s fashion trends.
Nobody wears hats anymore (unless you’re attending the Royal Wedding), and I think it’s a terrible shame. But besides hats, mid-calf hemlines, soft lines, and dropped waists all defined the fashion of the 20s.
The hairstyles were mainly short. The “bob” became popular and the choice for many women who had kept their hair long for most their life.
Lastly, my favorite element of 1920s fashion: the pearl necklace. Nothing is classier, in my opinion, than a great strand of pearls!
